ST PHILIPS EXHIBITION // Students, Patients, Paupers
The St Philips building was a former workhouse, venereal disease hospital, refugee facility and university building, which stood on Sheffield Street until May 2011 (now the site of the LSE Students’ Centre). In the weeks before its demolition – with knobs disappearing from the doors and a new light pouring in from the bare windows – the St Philips Exhibition moved in, staging a show of over 25 new works and a programme of films screenings and public events. An archive of the arts works can be found here.
